Water-Based Work 2015

I created these rich and colorful watercolors in Switzerland in the summer of 2015. Made on 22 x 30 inch 300 lb. Arches paper, they are among the most vibrant and well-composed images of more than 30 water-based works made that year. One aspect they seem to have in common is a dream-like intensity that speaks of “challenging” events of an inner order. In this respect they are reflections of my own personal trials of that particularly hot and difficult summer in Europe. But as always, I hope these works may communicate something more than personal qualities: certain crucial shared aspects of experience.
